The courses offered are geared towards fostering an interest in innovation. There are five courses offered under this core area.
Photography
This course is a Credit-Bearing Co-Curricular Subject (KKB) offered to students through exposure to the basics of techniques and skills for producing captivating digital images with unique creative techniques while also instilling students’ soft skills, particularly critical thinking. Furthermore, this course serves as a platform for them to showcase Digital Image techniques with an Islamic theme, allowing them to seize job opportunities in the market. This course will also produce a generation of Islamic leaders with ICT skills who can create critical Digital Images that are highly sought after in the market, in line with USIM’s vision and mission to serve Malaysian society and the world.
Virtual Website Development
This course is a Credit-Bearing Co-Curricular Subject (KKB) offered to students through exposure to basic techniques and skills for creating Virtual Websites while instilling soft skills, particularly critical thinking. It is also a valuable addition for students as it helps uncover creative ideas, boosting their confidence. Furthermore, this course serves as a platform for them to showcase creative ideas based on Islamic themes, allowing them to seize job opportunities in the market. This course will also produce a generation of Islamic leaders with ICT skills who can create creative websites that are highly in demand in the market, in line with USIM’s vision and mission to serve Malaysian society and the world.
Creative Media
This course exposes techniques and skills for producing unique and engaging videos while embedding students’ soft skills in handling final projects. It also serves as a platform for them to showcase creative ideas based on Islamic themes, enabling them to seize job opportunities in the market. This course will produce a generation of Islamic leaders with ICT skills who can create creative media that is highly needed in the market, in line with USIM’s vision and mission to serve Malaysian society and the world.
STREAM Mentoring for Secondary School Science Labs
This course integrates STREAM elements, where the integration of Naqli knowledge (R) and Aqli knowledge (STEM) is supported by artistic skills (A) in delivering and executing STEM practicals to create a more holistic impact in promoting Science and Islamic knowledge. This course will expose students to STREAM disciplines, design STREAM activities, and conduct STREAM activities to reignite students’ interest in STEM subjects such as Science and Mathematics. The course will incorporate community engagement and volunteerism elements to guide school students through service-learning methods. Students will be exposed to service learning and its integration into the school curriculum. They must carry out activities such as clinics, seminars, or carnivals related to STREAM to share knowledge with the local community. Thus, students can practice STREAM knowledge and community skills and demonstrate teamwork and communication abilities when implementing a program.
Applied Astronomy
This course exposes students to the importance of astronomy and its skills in daily life. Throughout the course, students will be introduced to the basics of astronomy, both theoretically and practically, with specific skills such as determining prayer times, measuring the direction of the Qibla, observing the crescent moon (hilal), and other celestial objects. Additionally, this course will cover the theories of astronomy from the perspective of the Quran and science, as well as contemporary issues related to astronomy.
