The courses offered focus on developing leadership skills. There are two courses under this core area.
Young Student Leadership Transformation
This course provides knowledge about Malaysia’s demographics and diversity and the roles students should play as undergraduates. In addition, students will learn and analyze leadership theories, organizational theories, and effective communication theories as an introduction to leadership skills. Students will also analyze the challenges and requirements needed to become outstanding leaders and the leadership styles and patterns in Malaysia and globally. This will enable them to evaluate leadership situations based on these concepts. This course offers a unique value-added experience for students. It serves as a platform for them to become Muslim leaders in line with USIM’s vision and mission to serve Malaysian society and the world. The course is conducted through discussions and problem-based learning (PBL), fostering critical thinking about current leadership patterns based on Islamic leadership concepts.
Community Integration
This course provides knowledge about Malaysia’s demographics and diversity, particularly in terms of religion, history, culture, economy, society, and politics, as well as their contributions to Malaysia’s independence and current development. It serves as a unique value-added experience for students and a platform for them to understand their roles in fostering unity and tolerance, ultimately emerging as Muslim leaders who comprehend the dynamics of a multiracial, multireligious, and multicultural society in Malaysia. This course is conducted theoretically, and students will organize a community integration service in Malaysia as part of their learning experience.
