The courses offered focus on developing public speaking skills. There are six courses offered under this core area.
Malay Speech
This course provides knowledge on the types and techniques of speech. In addition, students will analyze speeches delivered by participants in speech competitions at national and international levels and learn to deliver speeches effectively. This course offers a unique added value to students and serves as a platform for them to become Islamic leaders in line with USIM’s vision and mission to serve the Malaysian society and the world. The course is conducted through discussions and communication training that instils critical thinking and self-confidence in every student.
Malay Debate
This course is a Credit-Bearing Co-Curriculum Subject (KKB) offered to students as an exposure to debating techniques in the Malay language from both theoretical and practical aspects. It also focuses on teaching critical thinking, argument structuring, and oral communication. This course provides a unique added value as it helps to build students’ self-confidence and serves as a platform for them to become charismatic Islamic leaders in line with USIM’s vision and mission to serve the Malaysian society and the world.
Public Speaking
This course provides knowledge on the types and techniques of public speaking. In addition, students will analyze speeches delivered by prominent leaders and individuals, both in Malaysia and globally, as well as learn to speak effectively and spontaneously. This course serves as a unique value-added experience for students and acts as a platform for them to become Islamic leaders in line with USIM’s vision and mission to serve the Malaysian and global community. The course is conducted through discussions and communication exercises that instil critical thinking and self-confidence in each student.
English Debate
This course is a Credit Co-Curricular Subject (KKB) offered to students as an exposure to debate delivery techniques in English from both theoretical and practical aspects. It also focuses on teaching critical thinking, argument structuring, and oral communication. This course serves as a unique value-added experience as it helps develop students’ self-confidence and acts as a platform for them to become charismatic Islamic leaders in line with USIM’s vision and mission to serve the Malaysian and global community.
Arabic Public Speaking

Arabic Debate
This course is a Credit-Bearing Co-Curriculum Subject (KKB) offered to students as an introduction to the techniques of Arabic debating from both theoretical and practical aspects. It also focuses on teaching critical thinking, argument structuring, and oral communication. This course provides a unique added value as it helps to build students’ self-confidence and serves as a platform for them to become competent Islamic leaders, in line with USIM’s vision and mission to serve the Malaysian community and the world as a whole.
